Building a Brand That Didn't Exist Yet.
New Brew Coffee wasn't an existing chain looking for a Salmiya location — it was a new brand, and this 160 sqm space was the first physical proof of what it would be. The architecture had to do the work a brand identity usually does on its own.
An industrial-chic hospitality space designed around the art of coffee.
The client needed a specialized cafe environment that highlighted the artisanal coffee brewing process while offering a comfortable, modern seating area for patrons.
Launching a new brand through its first physical space is a different problem than fitting out an established one — there's no existing visual language to extend, no customer expectation to meet. Every material and layout decision was also, implicitly, a branding decision: this is what New Brew Coffee looks like, because there was no other answer yet.
Raw materials — concrete, steel, warm wood — set an industrial-chic tone deliberately built to contrast with the high-tech espresso equipment at the counter, so the brewing process itself became part of the space's character. Integrating the plumbing and electrical demands of commercial espresso machines into a tight bar footprint, without compromising that aesthetic, was the core execution challenge of the three-month build. The shop opened on schedule.

Raw, industrial materials were chosen to let the brewing equipment and process feel like the centerpiece rather than something to hide — a coffee shop whose architecture explains what it does, not just where to sit.

Most hospitality fit-outs extend a brand that already exists. This one had to build the first impression of a brand from nothing, which meant every design decision was also a brand decision, with no prior identity to fall back on.
